All I did in grammar school was mentally sleep all day. I went to Catholic grammar school and it was all about suffering there. Sure some of the kids did wonderful in scholastics and had great successful lives but there are some of us who needed to work off our energy instead of just sitting at a desk and listening to some nun drone on for hours and hours about science that was outdated 20 years.
Often there is no greater impediment to learning than the talking teacher.
I've had some really good teachers but some of them to your point just read out of the book and their voices sounded like dragging a piece of glass across a chalkboard. My 7th grade teacher was old when she taught me. She's actually still alive which I can't believe she must be close to 100 years old now.
she must be close to 100 years
Wow, and yeah, I definitely had some teachers, maybe max 3, that taught me so much, I'll be forever grateful.
What I really mean by my comment (which is a quote by a homeschool pioneer) is that sometimes the teacher needs to get out of the way and let the student ruminate etc.
They say "people are best persuaded by those ideas and thoughts and answers that they come up with themselves."
Something like that.
Your comment balanced me. That's why "In the multitude of counselors there is safety."
