Same here. 44 and know I can never retire. Lost two 401ks in divorces. I don't expect social security to be able to help when I'm old enough. I will never own a house. I juat figure I'm working til I croak.

Don't suck that defeatist tit. You're still young and you can make enough money to save and retire to live comfortably. Start saving now even it's 10-20$/week. Save as much as you can so when you do retire you'll have that money and social security.

I still won't have a house. I have savings to keep me going until probably running back to my mom, but it's not enough for a house, especially since I am on my own. I can't risk a mortgage on a single income. And rent is insane now, I can't imagine later. I haven't gotten anything more as a raise than "standard inflation" which is between 2 and 4% in 8 years. While my rent, in the same place, has almost doubled. Plus my boss is so excited about replacing us with AI.
