Yeah, no kidding. All that has happened is what we THOUGHT were the outer boundaries for reliability of western medicine has moved a bit and that spectrum is a bit (and appropriately so) narrower.
We just went from the experts / managerial class are the equivalent of gods / emperors / shamans of yore that could do no wrong and cannot be blamed to anything to, holy shit, real knowledge is hard and the people handling what is possible at the outer boundries of knowledge are human and therefore fuzzy and fallible.
We need to train people on how to calibrate their bullshit radar a little better.
