Well, you did say that he gets lots of promotions. Maybe one day he can get a good looking gold digger and hopefully their children inherit their mothers looks and their fathers mind.
And of course, it does rather suck to be loved for your income. On the other hand being loved for your body is also very transactional. Though if we're particularly cynical, even loving someone for their personality could be made out as transactional.
For example they might only love you, because you are a surrogate mother/father figure for them. Or because you are so gullibe and dependent. Or because you are like a psychiatrist with a shoulder to cry on and who doesn't charge hourly, and has sex with his patient too. Or because you make them feel youthful and desired. Or because you do all the boring household chores. Or because the sex is too good to miss out on.
Unfortunately if you have a major flaw that you must compensate somehow, the transactional nature of human relationships becomes much more apparent.
Alternatively, he must use his brain to code a dating platform for goblins.
