I've been saying this since ObumbledCare. When you're paying for your healthcare; I'm libertarian on what you eat and your extracurricular activities. Now that I'M paying for your healthcare; I have a say in what you eat, how often you exercise and whether you get to partake in high risk activities!

Uh-huh. But what if, say, I'd rather they engaged in the entire spectrum of unhealthy activities so they die faster?

Little to no physical exercise, poor diet with lots of carbs, IV drug use to include needle sharing with complete strangers, lots and lots of daily promiscuous unprotected sex with complete strangers, just to name a few.

Or, just break into my house to try and support their bad habits. Get all their ills cured all at once. The end.

They don't... die... fast... ENOUGH!!!

The idea that I have to do anything on anyone’s else’s behalf is pretty contrary to the philosophies that built the west anyway. What makes enlightened countries/communities enlightened is the recognition that the “greater good” can only be well served by recognising the primacy of the individual over the collective. It’s not my duty, or even role, to take experimental medicines to protect the collective from disease. Because we recognise that there is no such thing as a collective, only multiple unique individuals. What bothers me most about the covid bullshit is the very obvious rise of collectivism in what had previously been individualistic societies. A lot more than a few hundred thousand octogenarians and fat fucks will die needlessly if we continue down this philosophical path too far.

Ban assault cheeseburgers. Throw assault in there to make it sound scarier.
