Americans are fucked - you say you leave in the freest and most prosperous country in the world but you settle with bullshit like 2 weeks vacation and 6 weeks maternity leave when literally everywhere else in the civilized world we get 4-6 weeks off and a year or more paid maternity leave.

Eh, with a better job and more years in you can get more time off and better maternity benefits.

I'd rather earn time off than the government mandating that my employer provides 6 paid weeks off a year.

Oof, you said it. At my last job our corporate offices were in Germany. The VPs would often travel to the states for meetings and would joke with us about lending us some of their vacation days because they just couldn't get around to using them all. We earned an extra week after 5 years with the company, they started with almost a month and a half on hiring.
