"We buy shit we don't need, with money we don't have, to impress people we don't like."
- Spend below your means.
- Purchase a fixer-upper home in a nice area. One without outrageous property taxes if possible.
- Purchase your vehicle, pay it off and keep it for as long as you can.
- Cook your own food and make your own coffee.
- Establish good credit. Use credit cards for daily purchases (you want those cashback rewards), pay them off every time you get paid, don't wait until they are due.
Some quick thoughts.
I owned a rental property for a while too which helped, but I got rid of that.

Thank you. The fixer-upper home is a cool idea I didn't think of.

If you can get one of the lower priced houses in a good or up-and-coming neighborhood that can really translate into some future wealth. Although I'd be hesitant to buy right now, the housing market is really hot.
