Making the WHOLE of Canada the 51st state would be foolish - a blue state with 35 million citizens. You think California is bad, that would be a shitshow influenced by China. No, make each province its own state - that way Quebec and Ontario will be blue states, and Alberta, Saskatchewan, BC, Yukon, Manitoba can be red states. As for Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Nunavut and PEI idk what they would be.
IIRC, post Civil War America brought in equal numbers of blue and red states in order to not allow increasing one party's advantage in the Senate. If this is to be how it might be done, Canadian provinces will need to pick a party and get in line.
Let Quebec, Montreal, and Ontario stay "Canada". I think the rest would make pretty good states.
