What's DEF? I don't get it. Can someone tell me what's going on here?

[–] 11 pts

DEF = Diesel exhaust fluid. Used to reduce emissions in big diesel vehicles. Not fuel.

[–] 3 pts

Oh that's funny, I HAD a diesel that used that shit, and didn't get the pic either!

And the nozzle for diesel is about twice the size

[–] 0 pt

It's a separate hose from the diesel nozzle and is about the same size as your regular gas nozzle.

What @altident said. I'd like to add that it's useless for a variety of reasons including the plastic bottles that get discarded everywhere and it reduces your fuel milage. A lot of drivers have it deleted (illegal). I worked for a company that had every truck def deleted and never had an issue. It will void the warranty and most of the bigger shops and dealer shops won't touch your truck after though.

including the plastic bottles that get discarded everywhere

EVERYWHERE

It's crazy. You can't pull on the fuel island without at least 1 sitting beside the trashcan.

I keep 2 in the side-box for the rare situation that I'm out of network or forget to fill it and need def but I keep the jugs and just refill them at the pump the next time I get def.

Deleting any emissions control on a diesel is the only way to diesel.

[–] 0 pt

I agree. If I ever owned my own truck I'd delete that shit immediately. I'm a company jockey though so I could care less.

I don't have any plans to buy a truck anymore either for the time being. Loads are paying great right now but the economy is too shaky to consider it. It's just too much of a shit show to invest in something that big.

DEF= Deisel Exhaust Fluid. It's basically synthetic horse piss that's meant to reduce emissions on deisel engines.

[–] 4 pts

"Specifically, DEF is an aqueous urea solution made with 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water."

You weren't kidding... wat the fuck

[–] 1 pt

Amonia bonds with NOx becoming ammonium nitrate + co2.

[–] 4 pts

I suppose she's putting the wrong fuel but we don't DEF fuel here in Wafflistan

[–] 0 pt

It's an additive for diesel fuel. It's not even gas.

[–] 1 pt (edited )

Don't put diesel fuel in your gasoline powered car. That's not even fuel its an ammonia additive to control emissions.

[–] 3 pts

Isn't the nozzle on those a different size than standard unleaded?

[–] 1 pt (edited )

I think they're just a bit smaller. The def pumps do generally have warnings all over them including the digital screen that say "NOT FOR USE IN FUEL TANKS!" or something similar.

Ok, then it's white people's fault because everyone knows most niggers can't read and those that do never follow instructions.

[–] 2 pts

Which is why diesel pump nozzles are larger than regular fuel nozzles.... So why don't they make the "def" nozzles the same larger size as the diesel nozzle since it is only used with larger diesel engines?

[–] 0 pt

That's kinds of odd they didn't make it bigger like the diesel fuel. If it's only for diesel tanks that would make sense. I've never seen DEF around here, had to read in the comments what it was.

I'd probably warn her not to start the car. She'd probably start it anyways cause white guy 'mansplaning'. That would be even more funny.

[–] 1 pt

It's a separate tank. The pump is also completely separate from the regular pump so you'd have to be completely retarded or trying to ruin a motor to put it in your fuel tank.

Or maybe she has a diesel engine hyundai, and the DEF filler is right next to the fuel filler.... But that's giving wamyn too much credit

[–] 0 pt

Just looked it up and I'll be damned. I didn't realize they had small deisel SUVs.

https://www.motor1.com/news/297794/diesel-santa-fe-not-coming-to-us/

Pretty sure this model was not available as diesel in the US, and it has Texas plates. Retarded nigger wamyn confirmed

[–] 0 pt

Almost thought I was wrong. This just reinforces "Why figure out the specifics when niggers probably just fucked up if they're involved?"

[–] 1 pt

Wait is the exhaust bubbling through the liquid? IS that how it cleans the exhaust?

Talk about exhaust restriction.

[–] 4 pts

Its Deionized water mixed with urea sprayed into a fine mist in the exhaust. The urea chemically reacts with nitrates in exhaust and catalyzes them into nitrogen gas

[–] 1 pt

Thx Im imagining an exhaust cleaning bong. And am like holt shit thats gonna kill HP.

[–] 1 pt

Lol percolation does clean things, but as you said, it would cause a restriction and negate the whole benefit. They do use the scrubber in some diesel applications where there can't be any particulate matter in the air, and the 1 HP loss is negligible.

I'm not exactly sure how it works but the soot build up does periodically need to be burned off. That's where regen comes into play to burn the soot off of the filter. The truck idles high to do this and gets really hot.

This is why you are seeing more and more trucks on fire on the side of the road. If the trailer is on fire, most likely brakes got too hot. If the fire looks like it started around the drive tires, again, most likely brakes. If the fire looks like it started at the nose of the truck and they were already parked somewhere, most likely a forced regen occurred around dry grass or some other flammable shit.
