It has it's good and bad points. Winters are a drag. Well, at least for me since I don't snowmobile or ski. Summers are great but don't last long enough. Used to run the Haul road during winters but too damn old for that now. Have thought about relocating but the coast is just one giant shithole and I don't particularly care for Texas. The midwest is boring and the South if full of niggers so it looks like I'll just put up with the winters.
That's why I asked. When the kids are grown, I'm convincing the wife to move. I was looking at south dakota, but I hadn't thought about Alaska. I'm currently in the south.
Working as a driver is a tough proposition in Alaska. Having your own rig is one way to go. Haul dirt in the summer and run the Haul road in the winter. Carlyle, Lynden and Sourdough are the "biggies" here for company jobs. If you want to give it a try though, that's up to you. You might like it or be hunting me down as that SOB that got you into this mess.
