I didn't measure how tall it was, but the root ball was about 7'6". 9" caliper on the trunk. Maple. Yeah, they wanted a fully grown tree, right there, this side facing the house. They had a second one and three crabapples down the hill. We built some crazy stone walls there before so I thought I had a good idea of the soil make up. Turns out my path was the softest, most rock devoid soil on the property. Damn machine put some 20" ruts trying to get that I've set. Crabs went in with the skid, no problem, but the big boy with the big tree... She it

My Dad did just that but 10 times over, it didn't even cost much. We had some asshole neighbors growing up, putting used chewing gum on our windows and parking vehicles on the lawn, so pops measured out the propery line and planted a row of cypress between our houses. They even ran over a few saplings with their truck but he just replanted.. Those trees are now over 40 feet tall with trunks over a foot thick. Their house is now abandoned, the only empty house on the street in a nice neighborhood. Those fuckers still own that house but can't even rent it out now They refuse to sell it out of spite.

I fully support this if the tree is positioned to provide shade for the house during the summer. So many people do not plan for stuff like that when they build and landscape.

Morning sun was blinding them.

Big trees are scary. An old oak tree fell and missed my relatives house by a few feet recently. Most of my immediate family members were in the house at the time. The tree surely would have crushed the house.

A lot of potential energy in trees. Scary stuff when they go over.
