How strict do you think Lufthansa is regarding carry-on measurements? I'm going to be gone with my father for 3 weeks and I was trying to pack my travel backpack with minimal success. And my older carry on luggage is destroyed so I've been looking online for carry-on luggage but nothing really meets the 22x9x14 requirements that Lufthansa has on their website. The tour guide said a couple times in her email "do not check your bags" . So now I'm kind of scratching my head a little bit right now, trying to figure this out. It's a connector flight to Croatia. Finally we're going back after our late winter tragedy this year. We had no problems last winter with our checked bags so I'm wondering why she was so adamant about it. Two people did have luggage not make it. So maybe the tour company just doesn't want to deal with the frustration?

The inside pockets on some of them can hold a full sized laptop. You can carry all of your electronics and valuables, and use any old bag or luggage for your clothes. Get some of those vacuum seal bags, stuff your clothes in, suck out the air and your clothes take up a lot less space.

All good ideas. Seems my father can't fit 3 weeks in a carry on either so we decided to die of the hill of lost luggage together.
