Anyone have any ideas on traveling with your older father?
Just remember that no one lives forever.

It pisses me off people who can't hear and have some sort of insurance that will help won't get hearing aids.
I need them badly, but I'd have to shell out cash for them. My father needs them too, the VA will pay for them, but he refuses to get them.
So frustrating
It does give me liberty to ignore people who speak to me.
True. But it is frustrating when sitting in silence is not part of this exercise.
Noise cancelling headphones. They're big and bulky, but nice to have to fall asleep at times. Name brand, with Bluetooth capabilities, can't speak for the cheaper models. The hearing aids, you could call around and trick him into it. Pay extra to have someone come to you, even while your out. Hearing aids are much smaller than they used to be. The cough, get his heart checked. Scrutinize it. Good luck and keep your sanity
Just keep in mind. All of those small things that annoy you.
They will not annoy you once he is gone. Relish in the annoyance. Make it a mental game for yourself, work to see those things in a different light. Its very hard to do with an annoyance, but it can be done.
I'm trying believe me. He's also a bad driver and I have to pretty much yell at him the entire time not to hit shit.
Hard to say. My dad is mid 80s and much less time ahead of him, than behind. I have an older brother that is a self centered prick, so not much to say there. I'd love nothing more than to share a beer with my pop, and have a few laughs.
I don't mind that either but this is tricky. He's like a one man band with noises. And I would love if he could hear.
Sounds like you're bonding quite nicely together. I wonder what his thoughts on you are?
I'll always be 11 till I marry and have children. That ship has sailed and while I'm kinda of not thrilled about that I'm too old now.
