It's not that. It's the notion of escape. Don't we all think we'd be better off doing anything else? Monotony is it's own torture and the 'grass is always greener' as they say.
That's not escaping when entering and using private properties.
They could literally go hike up the vast forests covering their (Northern-European) countries and build an off-grid cabin.
i've only hopped a train twice in my twenties, b/c i fell for tim barry memes i guess. It's something else. Fast moving scenery w/o comfort feels more real somehow. 'Hauling ass at a snails pace'.
They are hopping trains for a living (through faggit, merchs and paypal/patreon), not to escape.
Too lazy to get a proper job and build a family.
