At least we, and Gen-X, learned to take care of ourselves, and also largely take care of the Millennials and Gen Z who are still largely dependent on Boomer and Gen-X relatives and taxpayers.

I'm GenX. We've had this discussion before. I'm not confused about any of what you claim I am. You hate Millennials and Zoomers because you don't understand them or the world they live in. They're your kids and grandkids, but you hate them. That speaks volumes about who you really are.

Boomers get taunted all the time about buying off-brands, by Millennial goobers. My four-year-old generic android phone is a source of derision amongst the yout's, who all sport either iPhone 14s or Galaxy S22s. They also like to crack wise about my 20 year old beater import, since they all have either a Prius or a Tesla. Oh, and you should hear what they say about my cheap off-brand shoes and clothing, since they seem split into two groups, either "pajama bottoms and lootbox t-shirts" with their anime-themed footgear, or "sportsball team" with their name-brand shoes, usually Nike.

Why do you care what they say about any of that? That sounds more like Millennial and Zoomer behavior. You're old enough not to give a shit so act like it. But you can't deny that boomers did the same thing with their choice of car brands (Ford vs Chevy hate is real and truly boomer mentality). I just tell anyone who cracks wise about my choice in things I own, old or beater or cheap, that I'm financially secure and have money to live out my life because I'm not wasting it on frivolous and trendy shit. I then ask them how much money they have for their futures. They usually STFU right away when they realize they don't have shit. That happens with all generations, including boomers and GenX, unfortunately.
