Here's the thing; getting involved with unprepared individuals during a crisis can severely compromise you.
More so than anything, they aren't mentally prepared to adapt to that situation because the thought that they'd have to never crossed their mind.
Its not out of callousness: it's the same reason we can't solve poverty by simply bringing everyone to western countries

All families should have a standard operating procedure for dealing with abrupt communication and power failure. i.e. if no communication for one hour, meet up at a certain place... backup lighting, such as kerosene lamps or basic candles with no scent... The ability to delegate and screen temporary allies on the spot and effectively utilize everyone in your orbit to ensure the best safety for all involved(unless theyre kikes, see fuel recommendation)..
No power could also mean no water too, for many.
For an extended time, this could be a significant issue.
Luckily most of my neighbors are commies so aiding them is not in my equations.

when people come begging you for help, you have to stop them right there and explain to them how their communist ways have sealed their fate.
Im looking at different ways to store water, but that will only get me so far. depending on the situation, well water might also be tainted. If you had some time, and you were home, filling up everything in the house, including the bathtub and sinks would buy you time, but youd still want to filter it, i would think.
Distillation. Find natural running water source.
Or have a hand pump that you can install to replace electric pump. And equipment needed to do this simple operation.
