He lost me at the shotgun argument. Wanna argue a side arm or a PCC is bad, fine. I'll disagree but fine. Hunting rifle? Ok, fine. But shotguns out class an AR in almost every way. In fact, they have 9ne major advantage no other gun has. A pump shotgun is as close to an unbreakable weapon as you can have. Period. Dirt in your ar? Your fucked. Spring in the magazine act up? Your fucked. Round fails to chamber/fire? Your fucked. It's a pariah. I'll admit it's value as a long range battle weapon. But shtf? Your not gonna be fighting. This isn't fallout. You'll be hiding and avoiding stangers. In those situations, a shotgun or 22 rifle bring WAY more to the table.
Still, shotgun ammo is really heavy and it is somewhat limited in its ability to fend off multiple attackers quickly, not to mention reloading when you run out of ammo.
That still implies fighting. I understand your position but clearing a room with buckshot is marginally better than aiming with an AR. And while ammo us heavy, it's offset by the diversity. Bird shot for small game. Buck for defense. Slug for big stuff. Hell, dragons breath for shock and awe. And that's not even getting into custom loads like rock salt for less than lethal
