Make a glass encased shelved humidor. Right beside your glass encased gun rack.
The idea's come up, had thought to mortise & tenon the sides, made a scalloped pedestal around the base and line it w. spanish cedar.
Then I remembered I suck at wood working and really need my fingers.
But still, it's an idea with merit, I have the equipment from my dad's shop, just not the skill (yet).
I asked in another comment below, do you find that a humidor actually brings all that much to the equation, or is it just decorative equipment?
Also, why glass? I thought sunlight was the enemy of aging tobacco?
You go into a cigarshop and they have the walk in humidors. And tinted store shop windows. It's more of an asthetic thing. You can make a shady part of a house or room where you always have the curtains drawn. I would say decorative side. Sealing with a humidor pack would be just fine, in those jars you were talking about.
Fair points all.
I think, from a comment thread above, I may go with a pelican case as an intermediate and either buy or build a humidor for longer term storage.
Thanks for chiming in, it's been very helpful!
