Right on man. You shouldn't call it a club, unless you want zoning issues, maybe. I could be talking out of my ass, but if you're trying to get a place that you can actually smoke without being hassled, then there might be issues.
I live in Cal, and people got around this shit by having a "private club" requiring membership. Then inside, you can smoke, drink, shoot pool, play darts, just hang....whatever. Now, no-one is meeting in an establishment.
The guys from CB were almost always way over the top in what they bring to smoke, trades, or gifts. I received my first few cubans and a few OpusX (because he said he wanted to get rid of the domestics....) from just meeting up with folks at a bar. Trades are done on the website, I just looked and there's a separate forum for that (didn't used to be). If you haven't traded before, then you may not get the friendly treatment; but in the description just call out that you would like to try a few things (list them out, like My Father, Cohiba, etc). You'll have to show what you have in return. Typically say something like "Newbie trader looking to trade a few sticks", and see what responses you get.
And usually, you pack in more sticks that is agreed to, this is also a good way to have people call this out. I've received hats, hot sauce, beer coozies, a knife, a lithograph believe it or not, and many other things.
I'll have to check out the CB forums! I didn't even know that was a thing. I have some Cohiba's black, blues and reds. Are the yellows the cubans? I appreciate the advice. I've heard good things about My father. Guhrka's get a bad wrap, but I've never had bad luck with them.
For the forums, yeah, was really an old BB-style that. Different categories, including pics (one is for cigars so you can show the trades you give/get). Haven't been on for a while, though.
The best cigar is what you like, one of my favorites was a candela (green wrapper) that ran $2. It was smooth, a light (but nice) flavor; and I said it was like a light beer on a warm day. Nice, but not overpowering.
For Cohibas, there is a Habana label. You'll know what they are. Also.....believe it or not, most Cubans aren't expensive.

Browse that. I bought a box of Monte Edmundos when my grandbaby was born. Ran me under $200.
