Please take a moment to silence your cellphone, quiet your mind, and pray in the fashion you best see fit.

Tonight, we are praying for Sammy, a lovely girl who I had the pleasure of meeting a few days ago.

She couldn't have been older than 35, with a bright smile revealing a mouth full of rotting teeth and an interest in getting clean.

We were able to see her off, successfully, into treatment, so let us pray that she has the time she needs to reflect and get healthy as she prepares to battle the demons that brought her so low.

Whenever I see someone who is in a obvious state of wretchedness, I have the immediate urge to judge them, based completely on their current appearance and perceived status in relation to my own.

This is wrong, and un-Christian.

In this situation, I find it helpful to ask God to let me remember that that person was once an innocent Child, full of life and potential, and I can never truly know their life story, of how they turned out that way.

I also try to remind myself that their life is not over, and no matter how far down the dark path they have trodden, there is still time for redemption and change, as this was promised to us by Christ.

Please Pray for Sammy, and may God Bless us all.

Sammy is someone's daughter. May God hold her close, providing comfort and easing her pain.

May The Lord be kind yet stern on this path, to give the grace she asks for and the strength to keep to it. May His hand be firm, and His light ever bright to guide those who are lost into a better tomorrow.

As Jesus said, if paraphrased a bit, "Let any who would follow me pick up their cross daily to do so." The path to bettering ones self, and to goodness and God, is not easy. Any preacher who tells you that following Christ would alleviate your burdens and make your life easy lied to you. But that makes it even more worthwhile.

We should all be proud of Sammy for taking the first steps to being a better person. To fixing her life, to finding God. That she reached out for help is a great sign, and I pray that she can stick to walking the better road.

That was beautiful Theo, thanks again for running this, and thanks for telling us about Sammy so that we can send love and prayers to someone who really needs it.
