Take some time to reflect on the year that has left us, all the things, good and bad, that are now forever relegated to the past. Learn from those moments, but do now dwell on them, in deep remorse or saccharine nostalgia, for while worth remembering, they are now gone.
Try not to get to caught up in the future, for it is a slippery beast, and the only thing that is certain is that it will not be what you imagine.
Instead, keep your mind on today, on what is in front of you, and those who are around you, and just try to do the next right thing.
Abandon yourself to God as you understand God. Admit your faults to Him and to your fellows. Clear away the wreckage of your past. Give freely of what you find and join us. We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit, and you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny.
