Cousin briefly died Same spot I did 3 shots of narcane Won't see him for a month

I heard em last night, bird Holding parents small dog I'm watching, Karl Scared but not shaking Anymore

Like A group conscious effort Celebrate the bang Before a farce

And a silent agreed on Passive agressive mourning We should mark our foreheads with ash A neighbors lamb bleating

What's next

Like others are saying, the month of June leading up to the Fourth pops right along with fireworks. This year haven’t heard anything until two nights ago, and it weren’t nothin’ much at all to speak of. Even now as the sun begins to set, it would normally begin with a steady pop’n of firecrackers before the night sky lights up in earnest. Nothing at all. Eerily quiet indeed.

Some. Here or there

Well, once it got dark enough the rockets red glare did begin to appear, but I’d estimate only 40-50% to previous years.

Almost as if the spirit of independence and revolution has died with a whimper.

Even the large Christian family across the street with tons of kids and grandkids that for the last twelve years I’ve lived here would be setting up tables and chairs out across the lawn by this time. Nothing.

And still not a pop to be heard yet? Not even the aromas of BBQs are wafting about. Wtf.
