I've seen this happen, and I've seen seniors start to lose a step when they stop having social contact and activity.
Some seniors just don't want to do a darn thing and there's little you can do about it, and some can be seemingly social but still succumb to dementia, but I am convinced that if you keep mentally, physically, and socially active then you won't have your brain rot out on you.
