I've heard about the things you mention. I live outside of the US, and though where I live masks are not mandatory, most people wear one (except cranks like me).

My kids' schools did a month of "short days" and self-study at the beginning of the year. But when the short days got extended, the schools opened for full days anyway.

Bars and everyplace else are still open, though the government asks them to close early. They won't shut these places down, because there were pre-covid laws in place that require the government to pay if they force businesses to close temporarily (some holdover from communism).

Many places can't afford to close, which has lead to a sort of "speakeasy" culture. It's an open secret which places are open late, but no one really cares. People socialize there with or without masks, as they like.

I just don't see it "officially" ending. Likely the current "emergency state" will end, and no one will talk about renewing it.

That's really the only good thing about post-communism societies--everyone is skeptical of the government, watches them like hawks, and are quick to jump their shit if it looks like they're going to overstep.

That is probably the most frightening video I’ve seen in awhile - the way those masked people respond to people walking in maskless by throwing masks at them, degrading them, and almost assaulting them makes me wonder if the population can be saved from the sheer idiocy, which is this nonpandemic they choose to participate in. Also, Reddit is fucked of course, but the comment that the non-mask wearers are, “children in adult form” blows my mind. The irony of such a statement is larger than their fat fucking mothers that birthed them, yet the self proclaimed geniuses can’t even see it.
