Its complicated. I've been reading the book of Mormon here or there
Surely to be of interest to you:
(copypasta, not written by me) Save-worthy Poalr Pasta - Subject: Truth about mormonism
They teach that God was once a man, and by leading a perfect life he obtained godhood over his own world. And if you lead a perfect life, you too can obtain godhood.
They won't tell you this up front, you have to spend a lot of time in their "church" before they say it. They call this "milk before meat" i.e. waiting until you're hooked by the very nice people and the mormon's admittedly strong support system.
When I asked them "so is God the only one who has achieved this, or have more than one?", the answer was "probably multiple people have".
"So, if there are multiple gods, are you polytheists?" Answer: "No, we only worship the God of this world."
The Bible is very, very clear on who the God of this world is aka the Prince of Air.
A common retort is "Why wouldn't God want the same thing for his children that he enjoyed?", never considering for a second that this argument is just the inverse argument of the serpent in the garden of eden to Eve.
The serpent said "God said not to eat it because you would become like Him". The mormons say "Of course God wants you to be like him".
That religion is a sugar-coated shell covering a poison core.
The "church" demands tithes to the point that many Mormons work multiple jobs in order to meet their quota.
The more they give their church the quicker they move up the hierarchy.
They believe that once they achieve supreme being status that they will be the God of their own earth in the next life.
They baptize deceased ancestors into the church so they will be included when their descendant achieves God status.
They fool a lot of people with their swearing off alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes. It's all a ruse. They worship a false prophet.
That's the tip of the iceberg with the Mormon faith, but very good pasta. I will add though, after like 10 years of speaking to rank and file Mormons, I DO think they're saved, on the premise that salvation is as easy as accepting that He died for our sins and we accept His sacrifice because we are too sinful to ever be good enough. God made the path simple, it's man who made it so much more difficult.
No. His sacrifice means nothing without His deity.
Without acknowledging His intrinsic and eternal form as God, they fail to acknowledge the true Jesus Christ. They instead prop up an imitator.
It would be like hiring Michael Fassbender to run your computer company because he played Steve Jobs in a movie. The appearance is similar enough, and he even knows some of the lines and attitudes, but he isn’t that person.
The Jesus they worship was not the Word of God from Creation, and therefore, like the jews, they deny His identity, and are condemned.
I'm more interested in finding hidden meanings than anything
Are you Mormon? If not, do not waste your time with that poorly written Bible fan fiction. Perhaps you'd be interested to learn more about Jesus and why Christianity is true?
I just got out of an annual church sobriety dinner fighting off a panic attack. Good people, but too much history there, so I'm reading James Joyce
I'll take that as a no then.
Wish you luck then.
