Salvation is, thankfully, a gift from God, a deliverance from death and eternal separation. It comes by His Grace, via the mechanism of His Son Jesus Christ on the Cross. It is the gift given for the non-meritorious act of faith, on the part of each man, in the deity of Jesus Christ and all that entails, as well as His sacrificial death, burial, resurrection, ascension and session.

The Catholic is offered the fundamental truth of salvation when informed of the deity of Christ as well as His atoning death. It’s why we had folks like Luther who fought vehemently against the Catholic leadership’s straying from these essentials through “supplemental human good” systems.

God’s Truth can shine through flawed human presentation. Billy Graham was a vile human being and worse theologian, speaking plenty of heretical things, including that Barbara Bush was a sinless human being. However, there are plenty of legitimate cases of people encountering a salvation message and accepting it in spite of Graham’s wickedness.

That’s the beauty of God’s Truth. It can penetrate the darkness. It’s documented that He even spoke through an ass, and He continues to do so every time I present His scripture.

So, to sum up, salvation is possible through the broken Catholic message, because God is holy and omniscient, seeing our hearts and intents. If I believe I’m saved by my works, I’m dead. If I believe I’m saved by His, I live.

Based on the last two paragraphs, which part would preclude the average, god-fearing Mormon from salvation?
