In my experience, sure, as long as they don't mess around and get in the way, but the same goes for everyone, regardless of sex. If anything, it's heartwarming to see someone trying their hardest to stay in shape and reach their potential, be it a lanky twink or a woman.
My gym is of the normie variety, but since this is Russia, it's still based in the way that it has all sorts of circles and clubs for dancing, aerobics, gymnastics, stretching, and an entire floor dedicated to just cardio and boxing, which filters out a lot of women who are just there to sweat a little. The weightlifting floor population has about a quarter of women, and they're usually there to do some work, mostly on their lower body and the machines, but some will actually squat and do stuff on the Smith machine, there are also some hardcore chicks who do oly lifts, and I've even seen one grandma in a span of a year do an insane circle of exercises that included benching and OHP, she was a real one.
Sure, women like to flaunt their assets with skintight clothes, probably subconsciously to boost their own self-esteem, and usually I'd give them a glance, check them out for a split second, and 80% of the time I'd either see a tattoo and turn away in disgust, or think "nice ass babe" and immediately go back to my ruminations. If anything, like another commenter there said, it's desensitized me, it doesn't bother me to see a perfectly sculpted ass right in my face, I'll mentally rank it, maybe think how nice it would feel on the palm of my hand, but no more than that because I'm on a mission.
I've read somewhere in the comments (probably on the guy's channel I just posted) that going to the Gym is like a religious experience. You perform the rituals very strictly, follow certain rules, always maintain consistency, and improve both your body and your spirit. And I totally agree, once I started thinking about it that way, it made a lot of sense.
I also understand the resentment side of the argument, the frustration is definitely palpable, and it is a big factor. It feeds on itself and is one of those cycles of defeatism that is hard to break.
All in all, I think going out of your way to pick up women in the gym is a bad idea, but if you get lucky and it just happens naturally, then more power to you.
