My wife, two other couples, and I spent the day looking for Morels yesterday. Not a big haul, but any day in the woods is a good day. Probably found about 50 between all of us.

Not looking for Gyromitra esculenta (pic8.co) (beefsteak)

Also not after Verpa bohemica (pic8.co) (false morel)

Now this I will Eat. Morchella elata (pic8.co) (black morel)

Those pics are all distinct. Is identifying the right mushroom easy like that?

They make it sound like you are going to die if you pick your own.

Real morels are hollow, the look alike is solid.

I've been hunting morels every year for as long as I can remember. It's second nature to me at this point. But as far as identifying real morels from fake it's pretty easy.
