I encountered a danger noodle yesterday on my bike ride. Guy headed the other way mysteriously swerved so I paid extra attention to him thinking his safe and effective vaccine™ was kicking in, then he passed and said something I couldn't make out. I paid attention thinking there was debris or something of danger on the road and saw a little nope rope trying to cross. I did my good deed and notified the next few groups headed that way.
Karma hit me hard today though, on today's ride I got a busted spoke. I'm grateful that it happened close to a location I've been rescued at before and it didn't fail when I was going about 30 mph.
No idea what species it was, based off an image search from list of known species in that area it could have been a common kingsnake. If you image search, it looked like the ones with triangle markings that extend from the bottom. Snakes don't bother me, I do enjoy internet names for things.
Kingsnakes are harmless. If you dont know what species of snake it was then how do you know it was venomous? It probably wasnt.
nothing bothers me more than when someone needlessly freaks out or kills a noble kingsnake because they were simply too ignorant to know that it wasnt venomous.
in my neck of the woods, i like to see rat and king snakes. ive encountered multiple cotton mouths and copperheads, so i breathe alittle easier when i see those beautiful king snakes.
I never claimed it was venomous. I'm identifying it based on a list of snakes known to be in that area and its markings from what I recall seeing as I rode past at 17ish mph.
You called it a "danger noodle" and a "nope rope" and warned everybody about it. That pretty well implies you believed it to be venomous.
