It's shit like this that makes me not want to have anything "smart" or connected in my car in the first place. At least I drive something so old it doesn't have any that I didn't install myself.

Can't wait until fingerprint hash codes, face hash codes and implanted Id hash codes are hacked. Fun times.

We already have collisions that can be generated for many modern "checksums". With enough time it is possible make a random image that will match a checksum to about anything you want. Too many systems are still using checksums that are decades old just out of simplicity and speed.

Every "Smart" device can be turned off without your permission or warning. Not to mention all the data spying on you, but if you put yourself in a box controlled by "Smart" you're putting your life in someone else's hands.

There was a movie that showed this already. The main guy was in a "car" that basically just locked it down and was going to take him directly to the lock-up. Because, Well, you own nothing. It's not your car anymore. This is the path we have been on for a long time.
Buy old and used, keep it running as long as you can. If you have to buy something newer, rip that shit out or disable it in any way possible. Its easy enough to figure out how from stuff online.
