Anyone with two brain cells to rub together would figure that out. Apparently the Optimus robot on-site is fully autonomous. It only hands out popcorn for now but it is a step in the direction of eliminating every job that a meat robot would be doing in the diner in the future.

Yep. Work in progress. The author is simply looking for a reason to bash Musk and Tesla.

I wonder if the workers had to sign NDA's or something to work there while they record every word, movement, type on touchpad, etc to train the "AI"?

It would be "fast food" or similar genre of food, for sure, and remedial tasks like stocking, delivery, prep work. However I think we'll still desire the food prepared by the hands of a human that cares about what they are doing (at least at first)...

a human that cares about what they are doing

Your typical fast food / short order cook does not care.

well yeah, thats what I mean - the "Waffle House" or generic sugar chicken from "Chinese Food" would be robotic. All the hamburger places? of course. And coffee. But there would be the stall or truck style that would still survive because it would still be something we'd want. Then the problem would be products - if the food is made robotically, it has to be provided uniformly. Thus industrial farming specifically for this.

it has to be provided uniformly.

And this isn't always a bad thing. Take McDonald's, part of the reason they are so successful is I can order on the West or East coast and I know exactly what I am getting.

You do make a good point, there is an art and passion to food preparation if done right and a robot will likely never be able to replicate it.

Robots don't unionize..
