It was a bit rougher than I thought it would be, but we all made it alive and mostly unscathed. On Saturday, Wife and Daughter took off early with the two dogs. I stayed behind to manage the movers loading the truck and to finish packing things. Good gods, so many things. We finally finished at 6:00pm. I left California driving a full-sized pickup full of stuff, including the three cats, and towing a small trailer.

I pretty much went straight through. There was a bit of traffic at first, but then it all thinned out. Stopped at the Bass Pro in Rocklin for about 15 minutes for a rest and cat-check. I’d been playing a track of calming cat purring to keep them sane. It sounds gay as fuck, but it worked. You ever drive a cat anywhere? It’s loud and difficult. The cat makes sure you know it. Now imagine three. But the calming / purring track seemed to help a lot.

Left Bass Pro and started the climb. Switched to listening to audio books. Cats stayed mostly quiet. Thought the drive up the hill and over the summit would be hard. Not really. Pretty easy. Rolled in to the new house at 10:30pm.

I was sore. I’m older now, and spending a day packing and loading on top of a week of packing took a lot out of me. Ibuprofen and Tylenol have been my friends.

Movers arrived with our stuff Sunday at 3:00pm. We got it all unloaded and mostly square by about 8:30pm. We still have boxes everywhere. So this next week will be unpacking.

All told the move itself cost us about $5,000. A little expensive but worth every penny. The movers were mostly Russian and Kazakhstani. Very based, very nice, and worked hard and with care. Good crew.

I’m tired, and I’m really sore, and I’m praying my back holds up. But I’m here. We’re here. We’re no longer in kommiefornia. And if you’ve ever thought about leaving California, do it. The current mess, if it were begun to be fixed now, will take at least two generations to come around. I won’t see it in my lifetime. My Son and Daughter probably won’t either. I truly hope Marin County, and California itself burns in my wake. The assholes who destroyed that beautiful state deserve to perish horribly.

Thank you all again for your encouragement and well-wishing. I thought about that a lot on the drive up and it really helped. It’s a tough transition for me, having lived all my life in California. But you all helped me start a new and better life. Thank you for that.

It's good that you escaped before the "wealth tax" went into effect. I wouldn't be surprised if "exit checkpoints" go up before I die.

Congrats! I bet it feels a lot like this:

Sheeeit, I remember watching the news as a kid and seeing people escaping East Germany. Some of them would get caught in the barbed wire- made me even more scared of the villanous Kruschev

Excellent report on your escape. Hope the new place is way better.

God bless you and family brother! Live well and be strong and happy. Watch those kitty cats because they will beat feet back to Cali if they get outside!

Congrats on getting the hell out of thay shit hole. It is very sad what has happened to California, it used to be the spot that everyone wanted to go to. Please remember to go pick up some milk thistle from the health food store (they have them in pill form). Tylenol and Ibuprofen are rough on the liver, milk thistle is a good friend for your liver.

Fantastic news. Seems it all went to plan. I left almost 10 years ago, and have never doubted my decision. Was also a great time to declutter my life.

If you ever have to travel with cats again I highly suggest a small dose of CBD. I can post a brand I trust if you want. When we get work done on the house or have to take our cat somewhere (his vet a pretty far away) we give him some and it really mellows him out without having to give him something like a sleeping med like vets often suggest.

Congrats on getting the hell out of commiefornia!
