Outfit was bought from the old (family) owners because they were old and their kids were into other things. MFW, new boss not like the old boss situation. Untrustworthy, wouldn't buy his shitcoin. :)

Yeterday we're told whole thing is supposed to be moved to a place in Bavaria, roughly 350 km from our home, where I live with my handicapped wife. They're trying to fuck us by offering the same job at the new location, hoping we'll sign their new contract.

They have another thing coming. It's lawyer time.

When I asked about the normal compensation for shituations like this, was met by deer in headlights behavior. Then I asked him why he was so surprised by my question. Because the least that's coming to me is half a month's pay for every year I've worked there (39 years).

Through bush telegraph I know some of the back story. Mr. Boss man got involved in family business. Family patriarch and Boss man get along well, I guess. Grandson of patriarch starts working there, after studying specifically for this kind of enterprise. Mr. Boss man alienates grandson and said grandson leaves. (No hard feelings, I'm sure)

Patriarch has a crippling accident (Riding an E-quad at 90 years old will do that to you but he visited us and he didn't look his age by a huge margin)

Patriarch doesn't want to be involved in anything business related after seeing the grim reaper up close and personal.

Grandson takes over. Payback time.

Grandson terminates lease of factory premises.

???

Correct, no entitlement, something I meanwhile found out while researching.

The company might want to avoid a long drawn out lawsuit procedure but I didn't even suggest that, I asked nicely like "How do we arrange things, so I get a nice severance payment?". We're still on speaking terms. The guy said something noncommittal along the lines of he's open to a reasonable sum.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hot for any lawyer action but also not a fan of leaving money on the table. I've spent most of my life at that place and always gave 110 percent. I'm not ashamed to try.

Your statements are pretty highly conflicting though. It just seems to me, like I said before, the company is moving to a new location and you don't want to go. I don't think you're entitled to anything.

>Correct, no entitlement >Because the least that's coming to me is half a month's pay for every year I've worked there (39 years).

Sounds like entitlement

>I'm not hot for any lawyer action >They have another thing coming. It's lawyer time.

Sounds pretty litigious to me.

At the time when I made the OP, I was still pretty pissed and didn't know the legal framework. I've admitted that and corrected it in my reply to your post.

Just in case it wasn't clear: I can't simply move to a place 350 km away and leave our house and my handicapped wife alone. We just did our taxes and that's why I have her ID ready (redacted of course) just in case you think I'm making shit up. embed

You're absolutely right, I don't want to go, tbh. But even if I wanted to, I couldn't, so the point is moot. Wouldn't even make sense financially to find a place to stay down there and have a five hour commute twice every week end (I checked). I even floated the idea to Mr. boss and he was flabbergasted that I even mentioned it. Clearly no one from the old company is wanted in the new one. And no, It's not our fault. We produced great quality with tiny resources.

Regarding your quotes of what I wrote, I've got to ask: Why did you reverse the order of my statements here?

Correct, no entitlement Because the least that's coming to me is half a month's pay for every year I've worked there (39 years).

Sounds like entitlement

And here?

I'm not hot for any lawyer action They have another thing coming. It's lawyer time.

Looks disingenuous. I had made an erroneous statement because this is the first time in my god damn life I've been fired from a job after continuously working for over 43 years now. I corrected myself.

Would make sense if this is the kind of online discussion where one side is out to get a kick out of "always being right". In which case I'm out. You win, have fun with that. Great job.

I was just comparing and contrasting your statements, I didn't really consider what order they were in. I just picked the closest one first. Nothing disingenuous and I'm not trying to win an argument, I'm just trying to understand. I did consider that you were just hot under the collar in your original post.

>I've admitted that and corrected it in my reply to your post.

I didn't read it that way, my bad. I'm sorry that I offended you, it was not my intention at all.
