In case you followed my thrilling tales of wisdom tooth extraction and the subsequent 'Lockjawening', its been a good three weeks and I was wondering, 'Is this my life now?'

I tried massaging, homebrew physical therapy, Ibuprofen and Diclofenac. Nothing seemed to help and I couldn't chew any food without severe pain, so bottom line, only soup for me.

In the last few days, I noticed I could open more than in the beginning and I could close my mouth in the morning but it would get bad again during the day.

Today was the first day I could actually enjoy some grilled meat and use my teeth for what they're meant to do.

What a relief. I had almost given up hope and it kind of paralyzed me mentally. Just in case this happens to any of you, give it time, it will work out.

You can also cut a chunk off and throw it in some dirt; it's remarkably easy to grow. That also gives you the benefit of ginger leaves for cooking or tea.

Is it cold-hearty? Never even considered growing it, but will look into it now.

I don't think so, I'll usually fully harvest it come fall time.
