This is at the Ohio State fairgrounds, and happens monthly through the winter. Couple of things...

One of the dealers, of course, was military regalia, and of course there is still a lot of NSDAP stuff out there. This one happened to have a large flag folded so the swastika was presented front and center. Friend goes "Boy that stuff sure is popular again." I go "Yeah, I wonder why..." we both laugh and walk away, I say "For no reason at all, too..." Both of us laughing about that the entire time.

Later, the subject of a company I was recruited for some years ago came up again, in response to a video we were watching. This guy had done some work for that company, knew people on the inside, and had put me in contact with some of them. (I've posted about that here in the past...) Anyway, I say yeah pay rates like [that company.] He laughs and says "Boy were they pissed you didn't take that job. You were their man. They. Were. Pissed."

Well, you know they offered me thousands less than I made at the time...yeah yeah I know I told them the same thing and they go "well, that's what the job pays."

I wonder why no one wants to work anymore. If I'm "your man" - imagine how they'd treat someone else.

Human skill is being devalued by hopes and dreams of computers doing it better. I've pressed ChatGPT to write better code than me. It can't. Corporate leadership still lives in fairy tale unicorn land.

In this case, it didn't matter how good (or bad) you were - that's what they paid. I did eventually talk to them later but it was pretty frosty - now I know why.
