This might be a stupid question but how do you avoid chomping into lead shot when you eat them?
Well, If you lead them correctly you shoot mostly head and neck. That doesn't always happen though so you have to look for that stuff when you clean the birds. An occasional pellet will sometimes make its way onto your plate still but not too often. Whenever I get one that caught the shot in the breast I make sure that one goes on my plate and I chew softly!!
Came to say this. And it’s all steel shot now anyway.
I never used steel shot, not enough punch. I use bismuth all day but I get your sentiment, most public places are non-toxic. I even use non-toxic where it's not required though because I don't want to ever be using the wrong stuff.
Cut the meat into small pieces, that can knock them out pretty well. CHEW SLOWLY and always be ready to spit out a pellet.
