I'm sure some are, but without a valid hobby, your life can feel very bland and directionless.

AOU asked in some post some time ago if there is something we know we must leave behind. I didnt write in that post but I realized I must leave all hobbies behind. Honestly my previous hobbies does not give me much pleasure anymore. I tend to feel guilt for wasting time that could better be spent working towards higher goals.

Yea, it's probably a balance. If someone NEEDS to have hobbies then I can't argue against it. Burnout etc can also be a serious issue.

My hobbies are the only thing that keep my mind from going to...dark places.

When it goes sideways, of course the hobbies are gone.

Carpentry is a good hobby. Build something for yourself, for your family, friends, community

People need something in their lives to keep us sane. It's either that or burning out quickly.

You need time to replenish yourself. To "do what makes you happy" there is, of course, a limit, and we should not encourage hedonistic behavior. But let people enjoy themselves, helping save our race, just to share more of the the things we love, with our brothers and sisters.

Who decides what a valid hobby is?

The future. Whatever helped our race continue: valid. Whatever stood in the way: invalid.

In a "sideways" narrative, IE: the break down of society, the current world we live in, most hobbies would take a backseat to survival. Hobbies, would of neccesity be more of a practical nature, than esoteric. I think that true for men and women.

It's in The Constitution, the most useful and valid "hobby" is owning guns and becoming efficient in their use and maintenance...
