I just lost my power about 45 minutes ago. I heard the transformer down the street go off like a gunshot. It happens about every year and is 2-4hrs before it gets fixed.
It's about 90°F outside, 82°F inside. I decided to see what my Tacoma could do about this as a quick fix. It has a built in 100W 120V power inverter. I dug up my long extension cord, ran it through the house outdoors, plugged it into the Tacoma, hit the power switch.
Came inside, reconfigured my power strip with the longest cord to power my box fan, internet box, phone and kindle power converter.
Now I have a refreshing breeze, and internet/phone. The next 3-4 hours will be far more enjoyable until power is restored. The Tacoma only has 1/4 tank of gas but I have a 5G jug of premium in the garage. I could have TV too but I fear the flat screen would pull most/all/more than the inverter could handle over time.
Enjoy your AC!
