They couldn't put his White face next to his White uniform on the 8-bit sprite and have enough detail to make it look correct. There were also not enough colors to make it work out proper. Dig Dug would have exterminated those pesky blue smurfs. \o

They could have made his uniform a different color. Maybe brown or grey with red accents. :)
