I was just coming back from the store, getting out of my truck, bag in one hand, gallon of milk in the other. I no sooner got both feet on the ground and whoosh I was flat on my back in my paved driveway ... in the dark. I hit hard but relatively flat and kept my head up.

I don't think I even got a bruise. The milk jug didn't burst. No damage. Very lucky. I could have been laying out there all night!

Yikes man. From someone with a worker's comp background, keep checking in on it. I second the hot bath, and stretches if you can.

A slight bump to the elbow on the way down was about all the damage, and that isn't even worth mentioning. My back feels great tonight. Maybe tomorrow I'll feel something.

About 2010 I was loading my Yamaha Grizzly atv in the back of my truck. I have a folding aluminum ramp and use a tie strap to keep it from slipping. As I drove on I had the front tires on the bed of the truck and the tie strap clasp failed, the rear tires of the atv kicked out the ramp and the atv proceeded to flip off the back of the truck tailgate with me on it. I jumped off to the side but landed on my back in a twist (same paved driveway as tonight) and landed real hard. The pain was immediate. I was on the sofa most of a week after that event. Seriously bruised my lower back. The atv never tipped over - it stayed standing up on the rear bumper. People have died loading atvs and having them flip when the ramp kicks out - that's why I jumped off to the side.

That was a decade and a half ago. I could take an injury that long ago and walk away. The older you get the less likely that is. Take care of yourself brother. We Whites need to make sure we are ready at all times for when shtf

That is what I am chuckling to myself about. I took that fall like someone half my age, possibly better. I drink a lot of milk, I think it keeps my bones strong. I'm 6'1" and 210lbs, it was quite an impact. I don't intend to make a habit of it. Lol!

Have you tried not doing that?

[–] 1 pt 23d

I dunno what I was thinking! At least nobody saw me do it.

Good to hear. Just don't do that next time and you'll be fine. My work here is done.

Climate change works in mysterious ways.

Still a foot of snow here. We could use some climate change.

Ouch. That's not fun, glad you're ok. I built a new sundeck. It has those expensive long lasting deck boards. I didn't notice the frost and did the big Whoop de do. Landed on my right side, didn't hit my head. All those falls from youth, I spin like a cat 🤣

did you get the wind knokced out of you

[–] 1 pt 23d

No, not at all. I got up, did a quick status check, gathered the milk and bag, shut the truck door and went into the house in disbelief that I didn't get hurt.

Knees bent, leaning forward. I learned that the hard way working in a commercial kitchen.
