Get some flat, smooth stones from a river. Check them for sharp edges. Place them in the pup's bowl, on top of their food, while they eat. This has worked for me with a few pups. They begin to test what's edible in their bowl by chewing a little (instead of inhaling like a vacuum).

No man, you're supposed to get a toy feeder so they track kibble all around the house.

I had a friend once with a huge mastiff great dane mix. When I sat on the couch for the first time, I noticed dog food between the cushions and thought it was curious.

Then I saw him playing with the other dogs. When he got really excited, he would go get a mouthful of food from his dish and proceed to frolick about, consuming precisely half of the mouthful, depositing the other half in many places.

He was a good boy.
