I've actually had an up close encounter with a bull moose. Fortunately he was laying down lazily chewing cud. He was on the edge of a meadow with tall grass, with a dense stand of cattails behind him. He snorted to alert us, as I don't think he wanted to expend the energy to get up and a cost us. We GTFO of Dodge pretty quick thereafter. Saw Mrs. and Baby Moose in the creek from a more safe distance about 10 minutes later. In the middle of a data migration at present - pics at 11...
Moose are usually pretty laid back. We park our vehicles (trucks, atvs, or snowmobiles) in the driveway (about where I was standing when shooting this picture). One night I went out to use the outhouse, there was a bull moose standing between the camp and the closest truck in the driveway, about 20ft away! Surprised the shit out of me and him! He just sauntered off towards the pond, no hurry. They love wallowing in the pond.
