So many losers out there. You did the right thing just letting it go. I had to sell my beautiful home because I left my crazy ex wife. I had to downsize and let so much "Stuff" go. Now I'm happy in my smaller home with a small yard. It has a nice private back yard that I'm making into a little paradise. It's fun now, instead of a chore or a burden. I golf 2 - 4 x a week. Ride my motorcycle and hang with my grandkids. Stuff no longer matters. I have everything I need. I almost never know what day it is lol 😆
I know what you mean about chores and burden. Painting, staining, raking, mowing, weed whacking, picking up limbs, limbing, repairs ... I think I need to make the old homestead as burden free as possible. Vinyl shingle siding, Andersen replacement windows, 50 year architectural shingle roof, new paved driveway, better landscaping, point up the old brick chimney ... on the to do list and future me will be very pleased. The house is small enough, all natural wood trim, hard oak floors, old school style that my Dad built when he was 29. I was about 5 when he built it ... and I "helped", lol!
That sounds like a great plan.
