It was one of those thick webs and I heard it tearing as it wrapped around me. I was pulling off gigantic pieces of web as I was running and I just figured there's a spider hanging on to me somewhere. When I got back to the car I was pulling more web off of my chest and arms. I hate being the first one out in the morning clearing all the webs for everybody else.

I used to go camping as a kid. I found carrying a vertical stick prevented web face.

I agree but I didn't want to run with a stick waving it up and down in front of me.

no need to wave it, just hold it

I ran the same trail today and thought about holding a stick and the potential of impalment I'm happy to say I was only raked in the eyeballs with a portion of the spider web and not the entire upper half of my torso. It's the little victories that matter most, right?

My luck I would trip and impail myself with the stick.

Could be worse, you could have seen someone on the trail ahead of you.

True. I've been running early this past month (6:30am)and I've not really seen anyone. Lots of dog walkers who don't leash them and they have no control over their pet.

Spides are completely useless. Was bitten by one on the leg while taking a overgrown route during a hike.

Didn't know know it then, but just started feeling unwell, weak, and had a huge headache. Still finished the hike.

Went home, noticed whole calf is swollen and an obvious swollen spider bite mark on the ankle. Got more dizzy and sleepy. Washed the whole leg in vodka and applied a generous amount of antiseptic cream on the bite.

Woke up sweating, cramps all over and shaking. Wife got scared, wanted to call an ambulance. Typical woman, making big deal out of nothing. Just washed it in more vodka and applied more antiseptic. In the morning I was fine, still had fever and cramps through the day, but a lot less severe. Day 3 all good.

According to symptoms, it was a false widow spider bite.

Sounds about right. They are fuckers.
