This accident had no squeal of brakes, just the crash ... and silence. Surreal.
Oh yeah, you said it was at a blind corner. Imagine being the person on the correct side of the road and coming face to face with another car.
The 69 y/o victim was talking about that. He said it happened so fast he didn't have any chance to try to avoid it (there was a turn-off to the right entering the curve that he could have taken if he had a seconds worth of advance notice). There were no brake marks from either truck. I found it fascinating how perfectly aligned the trucks were when they hit, and both perfectly centered in the lane, total abrupt stop like hitting a wall. I found the Dodge driver side headlight assembly in my yard about 50ft from the Dodge.
It was a good thing that the driver of the vehicle ahead of the guy that was weaving all over the road and caused the crash stopped and came back to the accident. He wrote out a statement for the cops saying they noticed the guy driving all over the road behind them ... added a lot of clarity to what had happened. The young driver that caused the accident said he was falling asleep behind the wheel. I'm pretty sure he was more than just tired. He was acting like he was doped up on something.
