A young guy who a witness said had been weaving all over the road behind them came around the blind curve on the wrong side of the road and hit an older guy coming the other way at about 6:40AM. I heard the crash and ran out to help.

Looks like minor injuries but both were taken away by ambulance.

I didn't even have time to drink my first coffee this morning.

Too much drama.

Thank you for running out to help. I was in a bad accident as a kid and am very grateful to the people who immediately stopped to help. I’d have one less person in my family right now if not for bystanders.

It's the right thing to do, and I know I'd truly appreciate it if I were in their shoes.

I was badly hurt and couldn’t help myself let alone anyone else, when people arrived to help, it was the biggest feeling of relief, like I knew everything would be ok, and I was worried, blood everywhere, car unrecognizable, etc.

My only big crash was about 39 years ago, I was very lucky, just a few bruises from the steering wheel. Totalled my truck. Trying to climb out of the passenger door is a real challenge when your truck is laying on the driver side in the middle of the road.

I'm sorry to hear you had to go through all that, glad to hear you were somewhere with bystanders! Did you make a full recovery? I mean, you're here which is good, but I'm talking about wounds that dont heal right

What if it were a gay trans nigger ??

I'd walk away in disgust, still would call 911 though. Let the cops and EMTs deal with it, if the truck catches fire before they get there, no loss to society and no guilt on my part.

Nobody won that game of chicken.

Car crashes make a distinct sound, don't they? You immediately know what it was.

Also, go grab some coffee. You've earned it today.

Also, go grab some coffee

Am at the end of the 2nd cup, and going back for more!

Yes, that sound brings a sick feeling ... of what will be seen when you get to the source. Fortunately they were only doing 35-40MPH when it happened. It was a Ford and a Dodge, perfect head on nose to nose. Pro-Tip - the Ford truck and driver came out of it in slightly better shape than the Dodge and driver. Shit in the back of the Ford went through his rear window, caved the back of the cab. The guy was a mason, had bags of cement, a generator and tools in the bed of his truck. Lucky it was a crew cab so they didn't hit him in the back of the head.

I've been in and witnessed too many crashes to not flinch when I hear that sound.

My first emotion upon hearing it this morning was WTF was THAT!?, then the dread of what I might find. I was in one major car accident in my life long, long ago, so it's still a relatively unfamiliar sound to me. This accident had no squeal of brakes, just the crash ... and silence. Surreal.

Not only that, but even from a distance, you can tell how bad it was.

"scre-bumk" is a fender bender. "Screeeeeeeeeech-BaBOOM!!!" is a bad one.

I heard those two 'sounds' in my head. Very well described. ;-)

If my computer keeps running after 2 years, I start calling it Mike.

I just sat down on the sofa with my first cup of coffee, heard a truck go by here and a couple seconds later "CRASH!!!" No squealing tires, nothing, and silence. Like he plowed straight into into a pole or something. Then I heard moaning as I left the house to investigate. The trees obscured the view of the road so I couldn't see exactly what happened until I got there. The young guy was laying on the ground bleeding, groaning and moaning. The older guy was clutching his chest. Gasoline, diesel and antifreeze permeated the air and puddled under the trucks. A neighbor across the street brought out a folding chair for the older guy to sit down, his chest hurting and hands shaking. He thought he might have broken ribs.

Minor injuries only in something like that? Good thing they weren't both in plastic EVs that crumple like tinfoil.

[–] 1 pt

Big, heavy trucks are the safest vehicles on the road. Little EVs are beyond dangerous ... not only from weak impact resistance but self immolation after impact.

might be a spic driver?

[–] 2 pts

Nope. Young (30ish) White driver, newer Dodge truck. Spaced out from drugs or alcohol plus the accident. The victim was a 69 year old White guy, a mason with a load of tools and bags of cement in the truck bed. That stuff slammed into the front of the truckbed and back of the cab. Blew out the back window. A level was sticking out of the back seat. The old guy is lucky that crap didn't hit him in the back of the head - saved by the crew cab. Good tjing no one was sitting back there.

Oddly, one of the EMTs in one of the ambulances looked like a dark skinned Mexican ... unusual to see in this area.

He carries that stuff and doesn't have a headache rack?? That's dumb.

[–] 1 pt

True, no headache rack. I don't think a lot of folks think about headache racks as protection from what's in the bed. More like something to mount lights on or carry a canoe with. Cool looking cosmetic too.
