I lost power for about 36 hours in this weeks nor'easter. My land line and internet were out too. The heavy, wet snow was sticking to everything and freezing in place, lots of trees and branches came down. My yard is a mess, lots to clean up after the snow melts. While the utilities were out, after the worst of the storm was over and I had cleared my driveway, I drove by my friend's house but his driveway wasn't cleared of snow so I drove on. I drove by again that evening, still not cleared. That was unlike my friend, he would normally be out there getting it done as soon as he could. I drove by yesterday afternoon, the driveway was cleared so I pulled in. His sister was there and told me the terrible news. My friend appears to have died peacefully in his sleep early Wednesday morning just before the storm hit our area. Not vax related, he was quite overweight and had a pacemaker installed years ago. I knew him for 45 years. What a shock. We last talked Mar 31, made plans to hit the local Mexican Restaurant for some good Mex food some night this week and then he dies 4 days later. This is a taste of what life is like in your 60s.

I'm fine but the shock hasn't worn off yet. I've lost many old friends along this journey of life.

When I got home last night, the power, internet and phone were working again.

Sorry for your loss.

Ageing is stupid I f*ing hate it with a passion.

That is why the individual needs to appreciate every day and moment literally like a Buddhist , and value even the small things in life. I value every day and greet each experience (the good and bad) because know when i die i will never have anything like this ever again. Life is too short to take seriously and hate.

I thank God every morning when I wake up and everything still works- well. I hate growing old however...I watched docs give my mother mini mental status exams and now they do that to me.

Fuuuuhhhhhh....

Aging is stupid, but is the natural order of things. My friend had many good times in life and had cheated death a few times in his foolish youth. He had developed severe arthritis in his neck and back, Maincare said they wouldn't operate until he lost weight and promptly got him hooked on opiate pain killers for a year, then cut him off from prescriptions. I guess the pain was something else, plus fighting the addiction. If I were to ask him today if he is happier this way, he'd probably say yes. He was a hell raiser in his day and those "good ol' days" were long past.

Yep, it's the natural order but I still don't like it. Albeit I don't think I'd want to live forever and reincarnation is a crap shoot.
