Assuming you're *not* fired, since you're looking, try telling the company you're interviewing for that you can't take much time off work for your current job because you owe them your diligence while working for them. Some may think you're not hungry enough, but you don't want to work for that sort of company anyway. Others will take it as a sign you'll be just a diligent working for them.
