Back in the 70s I worked at a VERY remote satellite tracking station. Card key entry building, 3 layers to get into the control room. New station manager arrived and ordered that controllers had to wear business shirts and ties to look "professional". First guy to go on vacation brought us all big colorful bow-ties from a clown shop. We wore them for 3 days before he told us we didn't have to wear ties anymore.
