Whew. I'm not gay! I've only worn them with tuxedos or suits to occasions that require them.

I also tie my own bow ties instead of renting those stupid clip-on versions.

Impressive. I've done both and I can't say I like either! Or any tie for that matter. I'm glad in a lot of cases now it is acceptable to wear a sports coat without a tie.

I learned to tie a bow tie many years ago, when I was best man in my brother's wedding. I was the only one who was able to untie his tie and let it casually hang loose around my neck. Yes, I did that just to show off. ;-)

It's come in handy over the years.

Tying a neck tie was one of the things my dad taught all of us. "A man needs to know how to tie a tie."

Then again, when I started working in offices, suit and tie was still the dress code.
